Gordon Ramsay reclaims his crown

LONDON 9 September 2008 – Today Zagat Survey, the world’s leading provider of consumer survey-based leisure information, released the results of its 2009 London Restaurants guide. The guide includes ratings and reviews of 1,173 capital eateries, including 65 Newcomers, as voted on by more than 5,300 avid, local surveyors who ate out 2.5 times per week on average, i.e. roughly 700,000 meals per year.

“Although the average cost of a meal in London is up, that hasn’t stopped restaurateurs from opening new locations nor diners from eating out on the town,” says Tim Zagat, CEO of Zagat Surveys. “Thanks to an influx of less expensive eateries, 43% of our 5,300 surveyors say they are going out more and only 18% say less. In addition, the decline of the pound makes London more appealing to tourists.”

After a year as No. 2, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay (68 Royal Hospital Rd.) has won back his No. 1 food ranking (scoring an amazing 29 out of a possible 30 on the Zagat scale) while maintaining No. 1 Service (with a 28 rating) as well.
