Angela Hartnett Angela Hartnett

In recent years, Angela Hartnett has emerged as one of Britain’s most successful, best-loved and busiest chefs.

After launching Gordon Ramsay’s Amaryllis in Scotland in 2001, Angela turned her attention to the opening of Verre in Dubai. She then returned to England to launch Menu and The Grill Room at The Connaught in 2002. Her efforts were formally recognised in 2004 with the award of her first Michelin Star.

In May of that year, Angela won a legion of new fans starring alongside Gordon in ITV’s highly successful series ‘Hell’s Kitchen’. Angela returned to our screens in early 2006 when she appeared in ‘The Great British Menu’ on BBC2 alongside chefs including Marcus Wareing and Michael Caines.

2007 certainly proved to be another busy year for Angela and in January she was awarded an MBE for her service to the hospitality industry. She also opened her Florida outpost Cielo by Angela Hartnett in the Boca Raton resort in Miami, serving a Modern European cuisine accented with Angela’s traditional Italian flavours.

May 2007 saw the publication of Angela’s first book, Angela Hartnett’s Cucina: Three Generations of Italian Family Cooking, published by Ebury, which has since soared to the top of the UK non-fiction charts. The book features a unique collection of family recipes that Angela has developed over the years and focuses on the food that Angela grew up with – classic dishes that she learned from her Italian Grandmother – and is a celebration of the tastes and textures of Italian cooking.

In August 2007, Angela’s first television project, ‘Kitchen Criminals’, aired on BBC2 receiving top viewing figures. The programme followed Angela and John Burton Race attempting to turn ‘no hope’ cooks into chefs deserving of a Michelin Star. Angela also appears regularly as a guest chef on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ and BBC’s ‘Saturday Kitchen’.

Never one to rest on her laurels, Angela was again busy in 2008 opening Murano – a fine-dining Italian restaurant in the heart of London’s Mayfair. Murano serves modern cuisine with an Italian accent, reflecting Angela’s family roots. Not long after opening the sublime Murano was awarded it's first Michelin star.

September 2008 saw Angela launch her latest project together with Gordon. Situated on the edge of London’s Regents Park, York & Albany is a majestic John Nash building which has been transformed into a stunning dining room with bar, complete with accompanying delicatessen and guest accommodation.
